The Must See Up and Comer!

Who’s the “It” girl of this summer … must be Iggy Azalea.  She’s everywhere.

She’s feuding with Nicki Minaj. “Weird Al” Yankovic waylays her backstage after a concert.  Hip hop “insiders” criticize her for co-opting their culture for releasing the song of this summer.   It’s this headline grabbing attention that would make her a huge promotional boost for your event.

She’s a star of the future!

Her smash hit, “Fancy,” is being pursued up the charts by her collaboration with Ariana Grande, “Problem.”  If what Taylor Swift said recently is true that stars are made in social media before the entertainment business, then Iggy Azalea is already a superstar.

More than 150 million have viewed just one official version of her “Fancy” video, and one – there are several – homemade YouTube clip of a father and daughter lip dubbing along to the song is approaching the 6 million views mark. Azalea already has 1.82 million Twitter followers and almost 3.5 million on Instagram.

Amethyst Amelia Kelly, her real name, was born in Australia and moved to the U.S. as a teenager.  After living in Miami, Houston and Atlanta she settled into L.A.  While modeling, Azalea began working with rapper T.I., releasing mixtapes that were widely circulated in the hip-hop scene.

She’s made many appearances at radio shows and festivals, including iHeart Ultimate Pool Party while selling out a run of large club shows in the first half of 2014. She has added Made In America to her tour that includes sets at Chicago’s Lollapalooza and Toronto’s Veld.

Combine all that with the CD The New Classic released in April, and it can be an easy claim that this is the season of Iggy Azalea.

Memorable Concerts

On this date in 1969, Paul McCartney recorded a demo of his new song ‘Come and Get It’ at Abbey Road studios in London. McCartney gave the song to The Iveys, (soon to become known as Badfinger). The song was later used as the theme for the movie The Magic Christian.
Original band member Joey Molland will be singing that and many more Badfinger songs as part of an outstanding British Invasion concert on October 24th at the Palace Theater in Hamburg, NY. Joining Molland will be Terry Sylvester of The Hollies and the Spencer Davis Group.
Booking Connection is proud to have organized this dynamic concert.
